It’s quite nice to have Sam Lachow back on his bullshit, putting all sorts of weirdness out into the world. Lachow was one of the first artists I began regularly covering all the way back in 2012, so the outlandish and talented creative has always held a special place in my heart. With two singles released so far this year, “Broken Bat” serves as our next taste of Lachow’s forthcoming full-length.
The new single comes complete with Jake Crocker handling the anthemic and captivating instrumentation, which bounces along beautifully with Lachow’s delivery. MistaDC and Vrillah tag in for the catchy, slightly soulful hook, leaving listeners floating in line as the track rolls along. “Broken Bat” definitely has that vintage Lachow essence to it, keeping fans engaged with the fine balance of weirdly sharp lyrical content.
Artists everywhere, if you ever have the opportunity to collab with Justin Frick, do it. We’ve seen what Frick has done with Lachow and some other Seattle-bred heavy hitters, each time showcasing just how gifted he is with the camera. If you were to ask me what the visual has to do with Sam’s prose, well I don’t really have an answer for you. But it’s a fucking fantastic, silly and fun mini-movie to accompany the bombastic knock of the record.
“Broken Bat” is available now on all your favorite streaming platforms.
