Michael Christmas keeps the creative juices flowing, following up last month’s Saint Lyor-featured “Credit” with the release of “Clocks.” It’s shaping up to be a prolific year of drops from the Boston-bred emcee, something that should make everyone who has been itching for new Christmas tunes quite pleased.
With “Clocks,” Christmas comes through with a poignant delivery, filling Keith Demick’s brooding yet vibey production with a sense of seriousness. Listeners still get the expected dose of fun bars, but “Clocks” plays with a bit of necessity, really working well to shine a light on the headspace of our protagonist as he continues to work towards his dreams. As the track plays through, we get some insight into how little Christmas cares for the “what-ifs,” instead placing his focus on the importance of progressing forward. Time is going to pass regardless, so put your energy into using that time to your advantage, rather than dwelling on what was or what could have been.
“Clocks” is available now on all your favorite streaming platforms.
