2020 is proving to be a prolific year for Kiki Rowe, who returns this week with “Gimme.” The new record serves as the second solo release from the Canadian-born Rowe this year, following “Calling Angels,” as well as her featured spot on two drops from her younger sister. While a couple new songs might not seem like much, it’s a notable change of pace from the nearly 12 month absence from the spotlight. And it’s sure to leave fans hopeful for even more.
“Gimme” is a sensual ballad that sees Kiki lacing her airy vocals over the ambient bop of the production. As the record – produced by Eli Brown, Andrew Afework and Simon Servida – rolls along, Rowe sets the vibe for a lustful and passionate rendezvous. Listeners get a sense of the fiery experience that’s to come, finding equal footing in the emotional and physical attractions setting the stage.
I’m always hoping for more new music from Kiki and the roll-out of fresh tracks this year only leaves those hopes growing.
