THIS IS WEIRD has arrived.
Since announcing his originally scheduled trip of EPs would instead manifest as a full-length project, fans and critics alike have been anticipating Khary’s THIS IS WEIRD. After releasing a couple singles, the 17-track album is available everywhere, complete with brand new music and engaging skits that help Khary’s THIS IS WEIRD story unfold.
The new album, his first full-length since 2018’s Captain, provides listeners with the deepest dive yet into the head and heartspace of Khary. As the album plays through, Khary offers insight into the life and times of a rapper who found himself questioning his career and position in life:
The project started with me asking myself, ‘did i fail?’ I had just left New York after 7 years of chasing my dreams and I was not where I thought I should be or would be by now.
From making sacrifices and tasking risks to love and letting go, THIS IS WEIRD is an emotion journey through Khary’s personal growth as he gains a deeper understanding of who he is, what he wants and what he’s living for. With one chapter closing and the pages beginning to turn on the next, the album takes us on a ride that feels as uncertain as it does celebratory. Each song reveals bits and pieces of who Khary is and what has led him to this moment in time. While what’s next may be unknown, THIS IS WEIRD paints a vivid portrait of a young man who has thrived through life’s highs and lows, paying attention and learning from each lesson along the way.
THIS IS WEIRD comes with a wide range of features including Sylvan LaCue, KOTA The Friend, Aaron Taos, Maesu and actor/comedian Jermaine Fowler. Production comes courtesy of Austin Marc, Mike Irish, Tedd Boyd and more.
