After sharing a handful of demos earlier this year, Khary comes through with “Planet Earth.”
The lead single off his forthcoming This Is Weird, “Planet Earth” features Khary offering up observational bars about the many issues plauging the world today. Far from a condemnation, the song serves as an open dialogue with Khary shining a light on issues like prescription pills, police violence and cancel culture. While he’s no angel, Khary questions wehther we’re actively progressing and making things better or simply fucking around and messing up the world on an even deeper level.
In regards to the song, Khary says:
I made this song about a week before tour last year. I mumbled some melodies into my voice notes and the words ‘planet earth’ kept repeating in my head. I felt as though this would be a good chance to talk about things that bug me in the world. It’s almost as if I’m a news anchor reporting on the world today.
“Planet Earth” is backed by Austin Marc’s vibe-laden and bouncy instrumentation, as Khary dances between a subtle spoken word and an impassioned delivery.
“Planet Earth” is available now on all your favorite streaming platforms. After much anticipation from fans, This Is Weird is on the way
