‘Joanne’ By Trick Sensor Is An Acoustic Ballad Inspired By Early 2000s Pop-Punk

Trick Sensor is a 3-piece rock band led by lead singer and guitarist Daylan Gonsalves. The band is based out of Toronto, Canada. The other current members of the band are Terence Tam (bassist) and Thiago Manfro (drummer). Trick Sensor’s music is rooted in the early 2000s pop-punk and draws influences from Blink-182, Sum 41, Allister, Mest, and Simple Plan.

‘Joanne’ takes the listener on a unique sonic journey with changing tempos and rhythm shifts. Through their sound, the band seeks to bring back the upbeat melodies and bright vocals that dominated radio airwaves in the early 2000s. Daylan shares “the lyrics have a sense of honesty and vulnerability to them. There’s this child-like straightforwardness in the lyrics which I believe would remind 90s kids about the music they grew up on.”

Daylan describes Trick Sensor’s music as ‘nursery rhymes on steroids’. He has a message for his fans and supporters – “2020 was a rough year for many of us, and we’ve all had dark days in some form or the other. Just knowing that we’re all part of a community with like-minded people will help us see better days.” The band is currently working on their next single which is expected to be announced in February 2021.
