With Ride Waves set to drop on April 5th, and a nationwide tour kicking off in March, GRiZ returns with our next taste of what’s to come upon release of his forthcoming album. The 4th single off the new tape features the Detroit-bred artist linking with Matisyahu to cook up a meaningful – yet still funky, bright and uplifting – record that finds its roots in hope and change.
Brought to life following the Parkland school shooting last year, GRiZ and Matisyahu pieced together “A New Day” to spark the necessary dialogue while also helping people move from a place of despair and enter a state of hopefulness. We can’t sit in our darkness forever and a song that finds a pristine balance of deep message and fun energy helps to bring people into the light. After all, it’s only light that can drown out the darkness.
The new drop is highlighted by the unique juxtaposition of sound brought forth by GRiZ and Matisyahu, their varied styles coming together to result in a well-balanced final product. With GRiZ’s instrumentation laying the foundation, the multi-talented Matisyahu is left to fill “A New Day” with his striking, soulful delivery.

This is a team-up that I never thought I’d hear. Both GRiZ and מתּתיהו have consistently provided an uplifting message. It’s a blessing to hear them mesh their ideology together in musical congress. We need more accessible positivity like this in the music world!
