#WebbyWednesday returned last week with “High Grade” and Chris Webby keeps the momentum going as he links with Merkules and Lil Windex for the self-assured “STFU.” Featuring three fiery verses, each unique in their own right, and knocking production from Epidemix and Nox Beatz, the second installment of Web’s weekly series hits hard. If you’re looking for a joint to get you pumped up and motivated, “STFU” is the one to push you through the week.
The track is saturated with confidence and braggadocio, delivered abrasively – there’s a fine line between confident and cocky, and all three emcees are Ric Flair strutting on that line with no fear of dancing between the two sides. Listeners are on the receiving end of slick rhymes and wordplay, although light humor is woven throughout “STFU,” bringing a fun dynamic to the sharp record. Perhaps serving as an homage, it’s easy to pick up on a vintage Slim Shady vibe as each artist takes turn kicking their verse between the raw chorus.
“STFU” is available now on all major streaming platforms.
