Watch Now: Atmosphere - Bde Maka Ska

Well, if this is any indication, it would appear that Atmosphere is forever.

And ya’ll can save your breath before you start debating whether or not they still “got it.” ‘Cause, at the end of the day, Slug and Ant have shared over 20 years of music with the world, opening their audience to an eclectic presentation of personal and artistic growth over the last (more than) two decades. So, whether you preferred their music more in the 90s, 2000s or the modern stuff – or if you have enjoyed the saga all the way through, respecting the changes and consistencies along the way – prepare yourself for the next offering from Minnesota’s own.

“Bde Maka Ska,” named after a lake in their hometown, is a menacingly brooding record that at once cloaks you in a cloudy aura while still holding out a comforting hand to help you on your travels. It’s like a sonic manifestation of an overcast sky that, no matter how dark, is never able to fully block out the sunlight.

Featuring scattered streams of consciousness, “Bde Maka Ska” sees Slug rapping, seemingly, about nothing and everything at once. It becomes easy to relate to his prose and the headspace that gave life to the words. Calling attention to the “bottom of the lake serenity,” the latest from Atmosphere serves as the musical representation of flowing through life like water – maneuvering past the bullshit, experiencing the light and the dark, while staying mindful enough to find peace with the chaos that is life.

“Bde Maka Ska” is available now on all your favorite streaming platforms and you can catch Slug and Ant live throughout January and February as they embark on The Wherever Tour. For tickets and info, head here.
